Long-term commercial engineering
I provided software development, modernisation, hosting, and technical support for Technojobs during 2007–2025, following first contact in 2005. The work covered established job and contractor portals. Technojobs is a former client; the business was later sold and subsequently ceased trading.
Modernising established PHP applications
I refactored legacy procedural PHP 5.5 into maintainable object-oriented systems and upgraded applications to PHP 8. The work required understanding existing behaviour and business requirements while improving the foundations for further development.
Job alerts, search, and filtering
I built targeted job-alert infrastructure delivering tens of thousands of emails daily, using batching, throttling, and tracking. I also developed geographic search, relevance ranking, and advanced filtering to help users find suitable opportunities.
Hosting and technical continuity
My responsibilities included server environments, migrations, performance, caching, patching, and architectural support. Working with the software over many years gave me the context to troubleshoot problems and support evolving requirements.
